Barber Papermill

The planning of a node influences a users ability to interact with space. It involves the discovery and movement of how influences interact with each other in one main space. A space needs to be able to connect to three main primary goals in order to create a successful node within a city or space. The three primary goals for a node is connection, location, and the main purpose to support the node. However, without these three key goals, the space is no longer a node and can be unsuccessful as their is no relationship the city or town.

The goal is to build a node that is self sustaining within the community, presenting its own atmosphere but at the same time connects in relationship to the town or city. by being transparent allows for people to connect easily with space but pushing the goals of node by having it feed off its own presence.

The structure is a historical building located in Georgetown Ontario where the site is currently being neglected and desired to be torn down by the owner for future development of a condo. Being on the Credit River, it is a prime location for many of the locals making it a strong location for a node. When it comes to purpose the building was built in 1854 and became the largest paper mill factory in Canada. This provided the towns people jobs so keeping in for the work force in the community was ideal. This creates a strong connection to the roots of the community allowing people to connect to the site.
